COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BREATHING APPARATUS, SELF-CONTAINED
The General Services Administration has authorized the
use of this commercial item description.
This description covers a 5 minute self-contained compressed air breathing apparatus for escape from hazardous environments only.
Salient characteristics:
The breathing apparatus shall consist of a clear polyurethane hood neck seal and an air supply and distribution system.
Carrying case. Shall be provided with each breathing apparatus and equipped with a minimum of one neck strap.
Mounting bracket. Specify if required.
Limitations. Shall not be used at temperatures below 20O F.
Conformance. Shall comply with the requirements of CFR 30, Subchapter B, Part II, Subpart H, latest revision at the time of the solicitation.
Workmanship. There shall be no defects that will impair appearance, durability, or performance.
The issue of CFR 30 in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with these requirements.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practical.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. The preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
