The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial item description by all Federal agencies
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This commercial item description (CID) covers clear industrial eye protective goggles constructed of plastic materials.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Design. The goggles shall be cover style direct ventilation and shall consist of a clear plastic frame sufficiently soft to comfortably conform to the wearers face and rigid enough to hold a one-piece clear plastic lens in place. The goggles shall have an adjustable elastic headband 11 mm minimum in width and 46 cm minimum in length, without metal. The shape of the goggles shall generally contour to the shape of the face, completely covering the eye sockets and the facial area surrounding the eyes, providing frontal and side protection to the wearer and shall be shaped similar to figure I. The goggles shall be capable of being worn over standard eyeglasses without decreasing protection.
2.2 ANSI Z87.1 compliance. The goggles shall be in compliance with all requirements for ANSI Z87.1 for cover style goggles, direct ventilation.
