GOGGLES AND LENSES, SAFETY,

CHIPPER’S AND WELDER’S

 

The General Services administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description by all Federal agencies.

 

1. SCOPE

 

1.1 Scope. This commercial item description (CID) covers goggles and lenses to protect wearers eyes.

 

2. CLASSIFICATION

 

2.1 Classification. The goggles and lenses shall be the following type, class, and shade:

Type I – Goggles with lenses

Class 1 – Chipper’s

Class 2 – Welder’s

Shade 4

Shade 6

Type II - Lenses only.

Clear

Shade 4

Shade 6

 

3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS

 

3.1 General . The goggles and lenses shall comply with the applicable requirements of ANSI Z87.1 for indirect ventilation eyecup goggles and lenses. The goggles shall be configured similar to figure 1.
