4.3 Preproduction inspection.
4.3.1 Sample. A preproduction sample of one protective entrance and
five lap joined seams (6 inches by 6 inches with seam going through the
center) shall be made using the same methods, materials, and equipment as
will be used in regular production.
4.3.2 Inspection procedure.
4.3.2.1 For examination and nondestructive tests. Each preproduction
sample shall be examined for all the requirements of the applicable
drawings and this specification.
4.3.2.2 For destructive test. Each of the five lap joined cemented
seams in the preproduction sample shall be tested as specified in method
8311 of Federal Test Method Standard No. 601.
4.3.3 Acceptance/rejection criteria. Each lap joined seam and the
protective entrance in the preproduction sample shall comply with the
requirements of this specification when examined and tested as specified
in 4.3.2 to be acceptable.
4.4 Quality conformance inspection.
4.4.1 Lotting. A lot shall consist of the protective entrances pro-
duced by one manufacturer, at one plant, from the same materials, under
essentially the same manufacturing conditions. However, no more than
one lot of cement from one manufacturer and one lot of cloth shall be
represented in any one lot of finished entrances.
Sampling shall be conducted in accordance with
4.4.2 Sampling.
MIL-STD-105.
4.4.3 Inspection procedure.
4.4.3.1 For examination and nondestructive tests. Sample entrances
and the level A preparation for delivery shall be examined in accordance
with the classification of defects and MIL-STD-105.
