a secure closure but not exceed the pull test requirement (see 3.5.4). The thread shall conform to type 1, class 1, size B of V-T-285.
3.5 Performance.
*3.5.1 Dimensional check - assembly. The completely assembled kit shall conform to the dimensional requirements specified on Figure 1, except in an area where the thickness may expand to a maximum of � inch.
*3.5.2 Altitude. There shall be no leakage of the kit upon submersion in water, after subjection to an altitude of 50,000 feet, when tested as specified in 4.4.3.
*3.5.3 Humidity. There shall be no leakage of the kit after subjection to the humidity test specified in 4.4.4.
3.5.6 Pull test - tabs. The pull tabs shall separate, permitting removal of the inner container, when a maximum pull of 40 pounds is applied.
*3.6 Weight. The weight of the completely assembled kit shall not exceed ounces.
*3.7 Identification of product. The inner and outer container shall be durable and legibly marked using waterproof ink with the words "SURVIVAL KIT" in letters not less than � inch high and "PARACHUTE PACK SRU-16/P" and "4240-
00-741-9713LS" the date of manufacture in letters not less than 1/8 inch high. The letters shall be centered on the survival kit and shall be oriented along the length of the kit. The outside of one flap shall be marked with the words "PULL TO OPEN" in letters not less than 1/8 inch in height. The information shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-130.
3.8 Workmanship. The survival kits shall be constructed in a thoroughly workmanlike manner. The finished survival kit shall be clean and free from any defect that might affect appearance, uniformity, or functionability.
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
*4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the
contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of
all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise
specified in the contract or order, the supplier may use his own or any other
facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements
specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government
reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the
specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies
and services conform to prescribed requirements.
*4.2 Classification of tests. The inspection and testing of survival kits shall be classified as follows:
a. Quality conformance inspection See 4.3 b. Preproduction testing See 4.5
*4.3 Quality conformance inspection. Quality conformance inspection shall consist of:
a. Individual tests
b. Sampling plan and tests
